Constantine Cannon remains a leading name in London's art and cultural property legal market. The firm's "very competent and well-organised" lawyers regularly advise clients on high-value international transactions and difficult disputes.

"The whole team that I have met have been reliable and good to work with. They are friendly and go beyond what is requested," states an interviewee, who adds that "they were ready to go from the first day." Another commentator describes the team as "very good and very realistic."

Notable practitioners

Azmina Jasani is considered a key member of “the next generation of art law partners” and is dual-qualified in England and Wales and in New York. She advises dealers, artists, galleries, collectors and auction houses on contentious and non-contentious matters, including authenticity, title and copyright. "Azmina's insights, patience, thoroughness and thoughtfulness have made complicated scenarios feel manageable and clear," states an interviewee, who adds: "I feel much more at ease knowing she is on our team. Azmina is a great listener and takes time to understand the dynamics and needs of each situation."

Pierre Valentin has a superb reputation for his work advising key industry players, including galleries, collectors and artists, on transactional and disputes matters. "Pierre is known as one of the first art lawyers and has a huge breadth of knowledge on everything," says a market commentator, adding: "I think he gives a very commercial view because he's very involved in the market generally, very passionate about the art world, too. He shows the passion and shares that. He's very strong on transactions and litigation, he does both."

Till Vere-Hodge is an associate at the firm. He is particularly well known for his expertise in restitution matters. "Till is very, very strong," says a market commentator, adding: "His standout is World War Two restitutions, he has unlimited knowledge on this. He is a bit of an archive."
