Overview

BMA has played a role in the most significant mergers and acquisitions and public offerings in Brazil, many of them demanding sophisticated and novel structures that became milestones in the Brazilian corporate world. 

With a special emphasis on listed companies, BMA acts for national and international businesses in mergers and acquisitions, transactions for sale of control, public offerings, and transfers of minority holdings, and assists clients in structuring consortiums and joint ventures. BMA's corporate team has advised companies of all sizes and sectors, particularly banks and companies in the paper and cellulose, retail, beverages, mining, agribusiness, energy, oil and gas and telecommunications industries.

BMA's highly specialized corporate team includes attorneys who have worked in regulatory agencies, investment banks, and foreign law firms. BMA assists clients in matters under the jurisdiction of the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) and other regulatory a​​gencies, with a particularly strong practice before CADE, Brazil's antitrust authority. The team advises clients on questions related to the regulation of the securities market and compliance with currency control rules issued by the National Monetary Council (CMN) and Bacen, and issues opinions on the application and interpretation of the law governing Brazilian corporations and the securities market.
