What the team is known for

Solid structured finance and derivatives team which advises on OTC derivatives and CLNs among other products across the Asia-Pacific region, with notable expertise acting on Japan-related transactions. Expertise spans synthetic note issuances, mini-future warrants, total return swaps and credit default swaps. Also experienced in taking on cross-border securitisation matters, with particular strength in South Korea deals, as well as being active in the PRC. Well versed in assisting with large-scale repackaging programmes. Frequently acts on behalf of international banks and Chinese asset management companies.

In China, we have the largest on-the-ground and award-winning team across all law firms (both foreign and local) specialising in derivatives (including OTC cleared and exchange traded derivatives), structured financing transactions and local regulatory issues. Our experienced lawyers in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, maintain strong and close relationships with government regulators, industry bodies and a broad range of market participants, which made us equipped with expert local and technical knowledge of the relevant markets. Our Shanghai Joint Operation Office with Guantao has also empowered us to compete for more on-shore Chinese mandates.

We are well-known for our fixed income and structured credit practices. We regularly advise on loan hedging arrangements and are programme counsel to a number of repackaging issuers and issuers of structured products and regularly advise on structured equity financings and margin loans.
